Cement tiles are made of concrete and the color in the pattern comes from mineral pigments which are mixed and poured into a mold. Usually about 3/32” thick. The mold is removed and the gray cement is fills the rest of the tile body to about 5/8” thick. The tile is then hydraulically pressed and is cured for about three weeks. This method was developed in the mid-19th century and is the same method we now use. Most of our Encaustic tiles are designed by Tile District. These materials are in stock.
