St. Caterina Travertine, Grigio Imperiale, Pietra Brown
The quarry of St.Caterina travertine is found at the highest altitude in the Acquasanta Terme (AP) extraction basin.
The origin of this travertine goes back about 700/800.000 years ago,it dates back yo the Quaternary period and its formation is linked to the thermal waters in the area which are naturally rich of carbon dioxide.
From this quarry are extracted different varieties of travertine (relating to tone ans structure): Bianco,Venato,Avorio and Curved Avorio are the main ones.
