The layers of the stone can give rise to sheets with a natural cleaved surface which is extraordinarily smooth and uniform. Big sheets which are naturally obtained were used to cover roofs in Turin and split pavings all over Piedmont.
Nowadays natural split stone manufacturing is a nearly hand-made process. Perhaps it is for this reason that each flagstone and tile has a sense of warmth which comes from past traditions, everywhere they are used.
Nature has given the stone its typically grey-blue colour with yellowish nuances. Man has chosen and classified it to obtain evocative combinations of colours.
Thanks to its geophysical features, it is a unique material in locations where limited thickness and resistance are dominant elements.
