The Sociedade das Pedreiras do Marco, Lda. was established in May 1967 with its Head Office in Alpendorada in the heart of Marco de Canaveses.The company specialises in Granite Exploitation. It produces high quality cubes, setts, mosaic and kerbstones in its plants at Lages (Vila Boa do Bispo), Recta (Alpendorada), and Roriz (Paços de Ferreira). The latter two quarries are equipped with stonebreaking systems.With the increasing globalization of the granite industry and the company in particular, it is today one of the biggest Portuguese exporters (volume of sales 85%). Its warehouse in Matosinhos is an essential link with Leixões harbour, the main Granite exportation center in Portugal.
