Armenia is the country of stones. Such Armenian stones as the tufa, the basalt, the marble and others have become the gems of architecture both in Armenia and in the whole world. Apart from traditional Armenian building materials, starting from the 30s of the last century another stone began gaining its popularity. That stone is travertine or otherwise called calcareous tufa which represents a species of limestone. It originated from the carbonic acid water sediments. Owing to its physical and chemical peculiarities, as well as its solidity, durability and other advantages, it has since ancient times become a unique building material all over the world, the most remarkable structure ever built with it being in all probability the Coliseum. The richest deposits of Armenian travertine are located in Ararat region. It is here, in the area called Salakit at 900 meters above sea level that the company “Manana Grain ltd.” has a twenty-hectare travertine mine whose resources come up to several hundred thousand cubic meters. The laboratory analysis and researches are convincing evidence to the fact that the extracted stones fully meet all the requirements of the international standards and can be used as tiles both for interior and exterior siding of the buildings. The travertine, as well as the company’s property sandstone and conglomerate mines are equipped with modern techniques and machinery which make it possible for stone blocks of up to 3500 x 2100 x 2200 mm to be transported straight from the mine to the recently-built plant and fulfill any order by our buyer no matter how complicated the order may seem.
