The bluish-grey to beige-brown Muschelkalk (shell limestone) from the Triassic period (Upper Muschelkalk) is extracted from the Bohleite quarry near Gossmannsdorf in the Würzburg district. Bohleite Muschelkalk is highly valued as a natural stone cladding for facades because of its characteristic texture and colour. It was used, for example, on the Campus und Westhafen Torhaus office building in Frankfurt/Main. Many historic buildings dating from about 1900 are built of the Limestone from Winterhausen.
