The stone was classified as a moderately sorted, moderately compacted, clast supported Oosparite Limestone. The clasts were predominantly composed of ooliths, but mollusc shell and echinoderm fragments and quartz were also present. The matrix was composed of sparitic syntaxial carbonate and some micritic carbonate. There was a moderate to high abundance of open voidage space. There was possibly some evidence of sedimentary bedding by the preferred alignment of elongate clasts.

Can United Kingdom's Bowers Whitbed Limestone be used exterior applications in hot climates?
Yes, Bowers Whitbed Limestone from the United Kingdom can be used in exterior applications in hot climates. Limestone is a durable and natural stone that can withstand various weather conditions, including high temperatures. However, it is important to consider a few factors when using limestone in hot climates: 1. Heat resistance: Limestone has excellent heat resistance properties, making it suitable for hot climates. It absorbs heat without deforming or cracking. 2. Color considerations: Light-colored limestone, such as Bowers Whitbed Limestone, is recommended for hot climates as it reflects sunlight and helps to keep the surface cooler. Dark-colored stones may absorb more heat, which can make them hotter to touch. 3. Surface finish: The right surface finish can make a difference in heat absorption. A honed or brushed finish may be more suitable as it provides a smoother surface that does not trap heat. 4. Maintenance: Hot climates can have unique challenges such as increased humidity and salt deposition. Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to prevent any build-up that could damage the limestone. By considering these factors and taking proper care, Bowers Whitbed Limestone can be successfully used in exterior applications in hot climates.
