Description:
Pale yellowish-grey uniform sandstone with fine grain, partial flattening and orientation of constituent granules.
It is a porous rock whose interstices between the granules are only partially occupied by carbonatic concrete. It is formed predominantly by turbid crystal of Dolomite, by turbid carbonatic algae and by limpid calcite concrete. Less frequent are quartz, feldspars and fragments of metamorphic rock.
According to the petrographical study and the NCE-CE-CI Zuffa diagram (1980), Giallo etrusco is classified as calcarenite.
In terms of its physical and mechanical characteristics, it can be defined as a light stone, fairly compact, porous, frost-resistant, with excellent workability and mechanical resistance, making it ideal for the ornamental use of cladding.
