The fine-grained yellowish-grey sandstone from the Middle Buntsandstein period is extracted from the Leistadt Quarry near Bad Dürkheim in the Rhineland-Palatinate. Thanks to the favourable geological conditions here, dimensional stones measuring up to 8 m3 can be produced. Leistadt sandstone is ideally suited for large-format, natural stone facades. This natural stone is highly valued for its characteristic structure and texture and is often used in the conservation of historic monuments.
