The town of Calatorao Zaragoza, in the region of Valdejalón, enjoys the presence in the vicinity of what is traditionally known as "Piedra Negra de Calatorao".

The use of these quarries is longstanding. The first known works date back to the Arab period; although they may have been already exploited during the time when the Romans occupied these lands. Later the Negro Ibiza has been used in many buildings, monuments, streets, squares, etc. This is Jurassic era formations formed almost exclusively by black limestone which, thanks to good polishing they acquire, are highly prized as marble decor.
