Slate is formed in nature by deposits on the earth's surface consists of gravel, sand and clay, etc. There are different types of slate, shale, oil shale and quartz slate. Their different composition means that the applications are different from type to type. Some will be used for everything inside and outside, where others are only recommendable for indoor use in our climate. Clay and shale are not acid-and scratch-resistant, where quartz slate is much harder and therefore resists better.
