Product Description
Granite Blocks
We operate five quarries located near Milbank, South Dakota. Three of these quarries produce Dakota Mahogany, which is one of the most popular and extensively used materials in the world. The Sunset Mahogany quarry supplies monumental grade material to our modern manufacturing plant for our memorial business. The Whetstone and Brown Velvet quarries are used for both construction and monumental. All of these selections are Dakota Mahogany with subtle differences in background color and grain structure.
Dakota Mahogany is a variegated material with orange and black variegation in most blocks. We do offer some Monumental Grade from our Whetsone and Brown Velvet quarry - but - uniform Dakota Mahogany in large panel sizes is a rare thing. Construction Grade will have movement and variegation and is used for most projects and for the countertop slab trade. Second Choice material will have hard red lines and variegation in color.
American Bouquet is a coarse-grained variegated red/orange material that we use for our monumental trade and occasionally for building projects as some larger blocks are available.
Bellingham is a finer grained pink - beige material with some black in the background and an occasionally black streak. We use Bellingham for our monumental trade but some large blocks are available.
Shipping: Blocks are sold FOB Milbank - loading the blocks in an open top gondola or flat bed truck is included in the price. A gondola's typical capacity is 23 - 24 Cubic Meters or 840 Cubic Feet. Most trucks can carry about 45,000 lbs or 185 Cubic Feet, depending on block shape. We have equal access to most US posts via rail. Open account with approved credit only. Terms are net 30 days. Oversea's shipments require wire transfer or letters of credit in place prior to shipment.
