Sahara noir is a type of marble extracted from the ground and there are no mountains of this marble, but only hills, composed of fossilized oil and oxidized metal. It is a marble that requires resin treatment on the surface to enhance its color and a screening to strengthen its composition

There are no real hills from which this marble is extracted but rather hills: the Sahara Noir marble quarries , in fact, are located in the Zaghouan area in the north-east of Tunisia (Jebel Aziz), about 60 kilometers south of Tunis.
