Characteristics and use:
Very elegant and precious marble, with an ivory background and veins of various shades, where different shades of pink from which the stone takes its name stand out. It is a marble used for luxury interior design projects, cladding bathrooms, fireplaces, floors and large surfaces where refinement is everything.

Calacatta marble

A high quality and highly sought after stone, Calacatta is quarried in the Apuan Mountains of Carrara, Italy. It has a creamy white background with contrasting and dramatic veining. In this way, thick and predominant veins are obtained over the entire surface of the Calacatta.

The veins may be gray, but are usually warm yellow or brown. As a result, brown and/or golden hues may be observed upon close examination of the Calacatta. Furthermore, this marble has a high iron content.

It is suitable for interior projects, such as kitchen worktops, wall tiles, floors and bathrooms.

What types of Calacatta marble exist and what are the differences?

Calacatta marble is divided into further categories:

• Calacatta Vagli marble: predominantly milky white with touches of gray and gold.
• Calacatta Borghini marble: vibrant design characterized by veins of gray and thinner veins of gold
• Calacatta Michelangelo marble: consistent and fine veins on a clear white background (very emphasised)
• Calacatta Gold Marble: thick gray and white veins, with very few gold veins
• Calacatta Monet Marble: white marble with shades of burgundy, blue and/or green.
• Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble: pronounced bands of gray and gold veins on a crisp white background.
• Calacatta Viola Marble: incorporates deep purple veins on a classic white background.
