Granito dell Elba, high quality, is in practice in almost all of the southwest in the area stretching from Mount Capanne in Marina di Campo. In the past it has been appreciated by the Romans and then by the Pisani for their villas and monuments, and good now part of the excavation and processing of this material is headed by Coop. Filippo Corridoni of San Piero, founded in 1937, which makes her one of the oldest cooperatives in Italy.
