Company Description
The road to Washington Marble & Granite Co. is filled with history. While it officially has existed since 1988 when brothers Rob and Ron Ganassa opened the division, their experience runs much deeper than that. The brothers are second generation owners, having worked in tile installation with their father Angelo who started his business in Washington D.C. in 1958. Building upon this experience, Rob and Ron opened their own business as R. Ganassa Tile Co., Inc. in 1984 in Gaithersburg, MD. The original foundation of the business was tile installations, but Rob and Ron recognized the growing needs and opportunities of the residential market. So in 1988 they opened the subsidiary Washington Marble & Granite Co. After 8 years of success between commercial tile and the burgeoning granite & marble business, they moved the shop to Ijamsville, MD. where we know the business as it is today.
Our Countertop Fabrication Facility
Our shop is a full-service fabrication facility where we have two CNC machines, two bridge saws, an edge-polishing machine, and a clean-water recycling system (links to be added). What this means is that we have the ability to take the natural stone slabs chosen from our extensive inventory and completely fabricate it to the customer’s specifications, all in-house.
 Cabinetry Division
In 2005 Rob and Ron opened subsidiary The Washington Kitchen Gallery, a full-service custom cabinetry showroom. With this addition, it gives us a unique approach to allowing the customer to design their cabinets and countertops together. The result is perfect harmony in the kitchen design. We have various cabinet lines that can meet everyone's desires and budgets.
One Stop Shop
We are now a truly one-stop-shop where the customer can pick their stone, cabinets, sinks, faucets, and have a full-hands experience in the customization of their space. You will work with us as intimately as you like to make sure that you are involved in every step of the process. Become the designer!
