The Carrière de la Roche d'Espeil is an atypical Espeil extraction site, perched on the top of the large Luberon and founded in 1884, Buoux Vaucluse.
The deposit consists of a semi-hard shelly limestone sedimentary type of homogeneous appearance, consisting of numerous fragments of shells and quartz crystals.
Geological position: Tertiary Eogene, Burdigalian floor, twenty million years.
This is a single deposit, listed since 1884, the main operating steps successively are the creation of discovery for access to exploitable masses, then they are made horizontally before performing a grid by shearers vertical and horizontal cutting of Ferruginous (chainsaws equipped pellets chains with 1m50 arms).
