After starting the business in Washington D.C. in 1958, Rob and Ron Ganassa opened their own business as R. Ganassa Tile Co., Inc. in 1984 in Gaithersburg, MD. After focusing on tile installations, in 1988 they opened the subsidiary Washington Marble & Granite Co., eventually getting into commercial tile and the burgeoning granite & marble business.
