Company Description
Located in beautiful Southeastern Idaho, 120 miles from Yellowstone Park, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sun Valley, Idaho, in the heart of famous Idaho Potato country, the greatest fly fishing streams in the world and world renown skiing areas.
Since 1968 we have been quarrying our continental buff travertine, sawing, finishing, and shipping it throughout the United States and Canada. Our quarry reserves are in excess of 100,000,000 cubic feet of usable dimension travertine. The continental buff quarry is located 40 miles east of Idaho Falls in the scenic mountains near the Snake River (a premiere fishing stream).
Originally, the quarries and fabricating facility were developed by a group of local investors in 1968. At this time, the business was operated under its current name, Idaho Travertine Corp., until 1979. It was in that year that the Marble Shop, Inc. of Knoxville, TN, purchased quarries and plant from the investment group and ran the business as "The Marble Shop" until April of 1988. In 1988, Ted and Joyce Orchard acquired the company and changed its name back to Idaho Travertine Corp.
Included in the equipment at the facility are three Ogyu wire saws; a Tysaman wire saw; two Tysaman gangsaws; three Sawing Systems coping saws; a Breton automatic slab polisher; a Tysaman sizer/gauger; a W.J. Savage circular saw with a 9-foot diameter (2.7 m); a Pellegrini flamer, bushhammer and sandblaster; a Park Industries guillotine (Hydrasplit);a Bisso milling saw and a W.J. Savage tile splitter.
