For almost 20 years, Stonetrade? has been the exclusive United States importer of Mariana Soapstone?.
The original Mariana Soapstone? quarry has now closed, but we are pleased to announce that our new quarry, Barroco, is producing stone that is so similar to the original that we are able to market it under the Mariana name. The new quarry opened in the Fall of 2008 and is yielding large size slabs in calibrated 30mm thickness.
When oiled, the stone turns a deep black color and fine, branching white veins become apparent.
This is a true soapstone, soft and gray.
We ship full containers of soapstone slabs direct from Brazil, delivered to any destination throughout the US and Canada.
We also sell bundles of slabs in select markets, where we have shipping capability and where we do not have exclusive distribution arrangements.
Our exclusive arrangement with the quarry allows us to sell below Brazilian market prices for soapstone, and unlike the "spot sellers", our stone will have consistent texture and quality from order to order.
