The deposits of onyx and travertine are located at the same place, in a vertical setting from the surface downwards. A layer of travertine is at the top and beneath this layer there is hollow onyx followed by blocks of monolith onyx. The onyx rests on clay or tuff.
Excavation is done with the use of bulldozers and other machinery.
The separated blocks during primary processing are measured and marked according to their gradation after which they are transported by means of large front-end transporters.
The raw blocks of stone are cut and divided into halves using state of the art diamond cutting technology.
