Product Description
The Crema Valencia is an orange coloured marble, with fine grain and abundant darkerreddish veinage. Its veinage is quite irregular, but this is what identifiesthe Crema Valencia as an unique type of marble. The Crema Valencia presentssome variations, particularly in terms of color (lighter or darker) and overalllayout (veinage intensity and direction). The type of processing also has an influenceon the color of the stone: polishing will make its surface not just mirror shiningbut brighter and more saturated, honing, on the contrary, will muffle tone makingthem lighter.
This unusual sort of marble absorbed all warmth of the tender Spanish sun, and bright veins reflect Mediterranean temperament and passion. One can see in this stone yellow sandy beaches and bright splashes of carnival. Crema Valencia will suit those who wants something special, unique. This gift of the nature is capable to inspire the designer on creation of the real marble masterpieces.
The Crema Valencia marble is explored around the town of Barcheta, which is located in the region of Valencia - southeast of Spain. Barcheta is located at about 60 kilometers south of Valencia and at about 400 kilometers southeast of the Spanish capital Madrid. The town of Barcheta is located in the Barchetta valley, which is located at about 30 kilometers west of the Mediterranean sea coastline.
The town′s name shows the evidence of its Islamic origin as it used to be a muslim farmhouse inside the area of Jativa, conquered by the King Jaime I. During the 19th century, vineyards and other dry cultivations prospered in this area. It is also important to note the importance of the natural stone industry on the local economy, with marble, granite and sandstone as the most relevant natural stones extracted in the local quarries.
The Crema Valencia marble is currently extracted by a single quarry, which is responsible for supplying the whole market. The quarry has a considerable dimension, where blocks with large dimension are extracted. For the moment, there are no problems in terms of market supply. But because there is a single quarry extracting this stone, this raises questions about its future sustainability.
The Crema Valencia is a unique type of marble in terms of appearance, not having many direct competitors in Spain. This material has been extracted for decades (its common to find worktops from the 20′s and 30′s), where despite having less availability, it has a well-developed and mature market demand on several countries. In addition, this marble has some very good technical properties, being recommended for a diversity of applications.
But on the other hand, it has been increasingly difficult to find blocks with the highest quality. The majority of blocks available in the market present some dispersed veinage, which changes the original layout of the stone.
In terms of hardness, the Crema Valencia has a medium to high hardness. As any other marble it is resistant to thermal influence, but sensitive to acids and food dyes.
