Product Description

Lapis lazuli pigment can be mixed with oils and other substances that can be used by artists for restorations and paintings.
Lapis lazuli pigment can be used on walls of different materials. Because of its resistance to fungus, micro-organisms, water and chemicals, it is excellent for yachts and swimming pools.
Lapis lazuli pigment can be mixed with several types of resin and plastics achieving the desired shape by means of different moulding methods.
The Lapis lazuli crystals can only be detected via microscope which means that it cannot be reproduced artificially and therefore it is very useful for printing security documents, bank notes and valuable documents

Chemical aspects of the pigment
Natural ultramarine is one of the most complex mineral pigments. It is a complex sulfur containing sodium silicate, basically a mineralized limestone containing the blue cubic mineral called lazurite (Miller & Alquist, 1998).

The following are the chemical properties of natural ultramarine (Miller & Alquist, 1998):

unaffected by heating up to redness
unaffected by ammonia or caustic alkalis
unaffected by sodium hydroxide
unreacive with base chemicals
extremely susceptible to even the most minute and diluted mineral acids and acid vapors; because of this susceptibility natural ultramarine pigment was never used in frescoes
the pigment is almost entirely permanent and highly stable in light

Now, artists do not have to compromise the exquisite vibrancy of genuine Lapis Lazuli pigment. Its synthetic counterpart is nLapis Lazuli Pigmentot as vivid blue or as permanent as the natural version. The particles within synthetic ultramarine are much smaller and uniform than natural ultramarine thus diffusing the light more evenly. The natural Lapis Lazuli pigment, with large and irregular particles of angular shape, react to light like a prism, producing its characteristic three-dimensional, gemlike effect.

Natural Lapis Lazuli Pigment is suitable for use in paints, lacquers, inks and cosmetics. It is successfully being used in t he coating of metallic and other surfaces.
