Wall fountains have a long history! What are known in Rome as fontanelle are the most humble yet unique water outputs because, having been made during a time length of five centuries, they come in a variety of shapes. The other name which most small fountains used to be called was beveratore, old word for "drinking-trough".
They usually hang from a wall, where one or more nozzles, often embellished with faces, animal heads and other decorations in relief, spout water into a small basin beneath.
