The Turkish city of Kremna was founded during the lycian period of the 4th centry BC, The prominence of the city owed much to the nearby presence of an antique travertine quarry, which provided a ready supply of travertine stone for the city's buildings. Ancient travertine columns and other artefacts can still be seen to this day.???

The old city was key to the re-discovering of this region's travertine source in 1988, and the entrance to today's quarry where our travertine tiles are quarried lies next to the original quarry mined over 2300 years ago.
