Salterwath has been used for hundreds of years as a building stone, while the polishing bed were only found 20 years ago. In its natural state the stone colour varies from light grey to dark brown black and polishing results in a rich, chocolate brown shade with light and dark brown swirls, some fine white calcite lines and sometimes small pink/white calcite roses. Typical slab sizes are 3.0 x 1.2 however varies. It cannot be guaranteed that new slab will match exactly samples given out.
