Montclair White is quarried from a gallery quarry in Danby, Vermont, USA. This Vermont White marble has a tight structure and is one of the most dense, white marbles in the market. The quarry, which is just outside Danby, Vermont, was opened over 100 years ago. From this quarry Arizona Tile offers Imperial Danby (Calacatta Sunrise), Eureka Danby (Calacatta Mist), Montclair, Royal Danby, Olympian White (Crystal Stratus), Sterling Sky and Mountain White. There are three entrances into the mountain. This gallery quarry is the longest of it’s kind in the world at more than 1-1/2 miles deep. Another unique thing about this quarry is that the factory was built inside the mountain, therefore there is no need to move the blocks off site for slab production. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book-matched; meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity.
