India Black Granite Block

- Texture and grain structure: Texturally the rock in the lease area is ophitic texture with medium to course grained.

- Color and aesthetic beauty of stone: The rock is dark black with grey shade. The rock is asthatically good looking.

- Hardness: Moh’s Scale : 6-7.

- Mineralogical composition: The main litho units expose in the area is black granite. The subject area is dolerite dyke. It contains plagioclase, Augite asessential minerals quartz olivine as accesary minerals. The rock is compact and moderately hard. The granite available in demarcated area is useful for granite cutting and polishing in granite industry for flooring and decoration purposes and it exhibits ophitic to Sub – ophitic texture.

- Density / specific gravity : 2.79g/cm³.

- Water absorption capacity : 0.135% (kg/cm²) .

- Parosity : 0.33.

- Compression strength : 687kg/cm² (in dry state).

- Abrasiveness : 6 – 7.

- Permeability : Negligible.

- Rock Quality designation: The rock quality designation is estimated to be good with RQD% between 87 & 97.

- Young modulus of elasticity : 7.728 (10⁵ kg/cm²).

- Degree of weathering under hand lens/Microscope: Fresh rock surface is un-weathered and it is categorized as Grade ‘A’.

- Glossiness: The rock takes good polishing.

The granite available in the demarcated area is useful for cutting & polishing purpose.
