Iddefjord granite

At our quarry on Skriverøya in Iddefjorden outside Halden we will pick up the iddefjord granite. This is a fine-grained and even granite consisting of quartz, feldspar and mica. The color is gray-white with some grains in black and gray.

Bergarten, which is also known as Østfoldgranitt and Haldengranite, is very popular as building stone, in the form of street stone, stairs, facades, floor tiles and sculptures. Gustav Vigeland's famous sculpture, Monolith, is carved in Iddefjord granite.
