Lundhs Emerald
Of the blue types the oldest rock is Lundhs Emerald. Lundhs Emerald quarry is situated east of Larvik. Lundhs Emerald is a very dark blue rock with large rectangular crystals of blue feldspar. The feldspar is the dominating mineral and occupies more than 80 of the rock. The blue crystals consist of two types of unmixed feldspars which make the spectacular colour effect that makes the rock an important and beautiful building stone. There is no quartz in the rock, and makes is relatively easy to process. The feldspar make the rock hard and shiny. The rest of the rock mostly consists of dark minerals like pyroxen, and hemo-ilmenite. Lundhs Emerald is the original Emerald Pearl.
