Black Galaxy Granite is a black gabbric granite quarried Near Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, South India. It is fine to medium-grained with golden-yellow sparkling bornite scales however the density and size of these scales will vary depending upon the source quarry.

This granite can have a dark black background, a dark black/green tinge or black with grey/white pinhead sized spotting. All types will have golden specks in them however there are two distinct types: small/medium flake and large flake. There are many different quarries of Black Galaxy granite therefore the background color and flecking can vary considerably.

Black Galaxy granite is undoubtedly one of the world's most popular and successful granites amount other granites. It is important to stress that for large projects it is essential to source the Black Galaxy granite from the same quarry supply since mixing background colors will be very noticeable.

Some Black Galaxy granites may require an epoxy resin application since they may appear to have a slightly open veining.

Not all Black Galaxy granites have the same background colour, they can vary as follows:
1. Dark Black
2. Dark with a greenish/black tinge
3. Dark with a whiteish/black background.

Surface Finish

Black Galaxy Granite looks best with a gloss polished surface but is also available as honed, leather/satin, river-washed/antique, thermal/flamed, flamed & brushed, water-jet, bush-hammered, sandblast and sawn finish.

Granite Slabs

Black Galaxy granite is available in standard 20mm and 30mm thickness for random slabs, cut-to-size (dimensioned) and prefabricated to the customer's specifications, 40mm thick are produced but are not usually held in stock for immediate despatch.
