Welsh Pennant Stone Steps, Urban Pavements

With the increase in demand from Welsh Local Authorities and Architects, for using natural stone products quarried from the heart of Wales, BBS granite concepts have secured the supply of new sources of material to meet this growing demand.

Welsh Blue Pennant, quarried in Neath and within the Rhondda beds of the Pennant series of Carboniferous Sandstones, is now available from BBS for all aspects of paving works, predominantly available in thicknesses of 50mm, 63mm & 75mm and widths of 300mm, 450mm & 600mm in random lengths of 300mm-900mm, it is available in two finishes, diamond sawn and flame textured, which result in a predominantly blue grey/dark grey colour, with a small amount of brown, green & purple veining. The end result with the flamed finish, is that of a traditional old Victorian flag stone, with an instant aged appearance.

Welsh Pennant Stone is renowned for its durability, extremely low abrasion values and very high frost resistance, and benefits from having extremely high slip resistant properties which is retained during wear.

The addition of this extra volume of Welsh Blue Pennant, into the market place will help to support and maintain the supply of material, to those patriotic Welsh designers.

The BBS Welsh Blue Pennant has now be used in a number of projects throughout Wales, from Aberystwyth to Cardiff, with four projects in and around the Swansea area. From an environmental position the stone can be quarried, sawn and installed within the boundaries of South Wales. For anyone wishing to achieve this traditional Victorian appearance, the product is available for export to other location throughout the UK.
