In early years, many streets and squares were made of basalt lava from the local production. This was virtually impossible due to rising labor costs here and favorable conditions in the Asian region.
Today, with the help of semi-automatic splitting processes, such products can be produced again at the site. In addition, the pavement is partially flat due to partially sawn tops and can be used in wheelchair areas.
Basalt lava pavement is also non-slip, frost and de-icing salt resistant.
