Product Description

The Sub Base is part of the overall monument design, we can make straight or curved with or without a slope in the centre. This slope is a great place to inscribe additional lettering. You can also have more than one base that step up to the headstone, this is called a B11 plinth. A granite base is usually the same colour as the headstone but does not have to be. Some families like the effect created by using different coloured granites.

Usually, people keep the original base and add a new polished piece of granite in between the tablet and base, known as a sub-base. This option is usually preferred, as the new engraving remains sufficiently elevated and protected from potential damage from cemetery maintenance equipment.
