Product Description

In petrology, Vals Stone is also called mica quartzite. It has obvious fine grain texture. The stone is very strong, compact and resistant to freezing.

Vals Quartzite is very old and may be more than 250 million years old. It started out as sandstone rich in quartz and has recently undergone metamorphism. This transformation, coupled with heat and pressure, gives the stone its unique strength and green/grey stripes.

Stone can be cut through veins (as opposed to grain) or fleuri (used with grain), suitable for interior and exterior floors, walls and paving applications. Stone has always been the first choice of the world's top architects, including Peter Zumthor (Peter Zumthor), who designed the famous Therme Spa of Vals, built from top to bottom in Vals quartzite .
