Through the quarrying activity, Grassi Pietre can check and select the various stratifications in accordance with any requirements: essential knowledge to guarantee the best result and the highest quality of the finished product. Attention and respect for the environment brought Grassi Pietre to quarry exclusively in tunnels, through a procedure already used in the old quarries of Vicenza stone, but which in the ancient times involved high-risk manual processing.

The extraction of the stone, is now carried out with modern machinery and it implies the creation of underground chambers sustained by pillars, with virtually no visual impact from the outside.
Nowadays, beside their primary use, the company Quarries become the evocative stage of the exhibition dedicated to the Pietra di Vicenza, such as “Cava Acque di Grancona”.
