Marble is the result of extreme heat and pressure applied to Limestone. It is a metamorphic rock which in geology terms means it has been characterized by change of form over millions of years whilst within the earths crust. Marble is actually a crystalline compact form of limestone formed mainly of calcite. Impurities which adds colour in the form of the familiar variegated patterns associated with marble. It's worth remembering that as marble is a natural material it can vary in shade and markings.

One of the main advantages of marble flooring and wall tiles is that they are capable of being polished to a high lustre. Polished marble tiles are more commonly used in the finest of hotels and in luxury bathrooms.
