Stone Information

pink granite

Pink granite is a type of granite that has been mainly extracted from the quarries of Baveno on Lake Maggiore since the 19th century, and is one of the most used granites for construction and decoration . Among the most requested types of granite there is also Rosa Sardo Beta, which has a uniform and homogeneous texture. Its extraction is done in large quantities and its fine color is gray with pinkish hues with the presence of small spots and white spaces on the surface.

Granite is one of the most abundant rocks on the earth's surface and is a natural stone whose name describes its particular structure which is made up of medium or large grains.

In Latin, “ granum ” means, precisely, grains .

The origin of granite has fascinated scholars for decades, giving rise to various hypotheses, but the most accredited definition is that it is an intrusive igneous rock, that is, a rock of volcanic (igneous) origin which has cooled slowly at interior of the earth's crust (intrusive). In the long process of solidification and transformation, the mineral impurities, in the form of granules, have moved and recrystallized. Following this process, a particularly resistant hard material has been created which is also capable of meeting many aesthetic tastes. It is precisely the impurities inside that give the granite its different colors .
