Quartz Agglomerate

The agglomerated stone (quartz agglomerate) in construction and finishing is a class of materials consisting of inert (i. e. non-interacting) filler and binder produced by vibrocompression, both vacuum and usual. The inert substance may be any finely crushed rock or sediment. The binder may be either mineral (cement) or chemical (organic resins).
The harder the rock used as a material for inert filler, the firmer is the end product. Air exhaust from the press combined with vibration eliminates porosity of the end product. The cement binder allows using the material in facades, pavements, i.e. outside of buildings. The resins allow creating the product not susceptible to aggressive environmental influences, whose strength characteristics exceed those of all natural minerals. To add decorative properties to the materials, the binder is dyed with colorants; the inert filler may include decorative additives.
The agglomerated stone is a compound of inert filler (quartz particles) with organic binder (polyester resin). That is, we use the hardest rock (of all used in manufacturing) as inert filler, which gives the end product a hard surface. The polyester resin binds quartz particles, making the material “elastic”, that is, able to withstand high bending, tensile and compressive loads and liquid erosion (water, acidic and solvent).
The agglomerated stone is by its total properties the firmest and the most resistant to any exposure, which ensures its wide use in manufacturing of a whole range of different products – decorative tiles, windowsills, countertops, staircase elements, moldings, etc.
