Quartz stone, type of engineered stone or artificial stone, also referred to as agglomerate or agglomerated stone, is mixture of approximately 93% natural quartz aggregates and 7% color pigments and polymer resins. The resins bind the particles together, and with some newer versions using cement mix, pressed into slabs using vibro compression vacuum process. The quartz version is commonly known as 'quartz surface' or just 'quartz'. The most common application is interior flooring, wall cladding, while the quartz based product is used primarily for kitchen countertops.

Artificial stone products are gaining in popularity; many shopping malls and department stores around the world use them for floors and decorations. Recent research reports reveal virtually no difference in performance between quartz based products and traditionally-used granite.

The material can be produced in either 12 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm or 30 mm thicknesses. The most common slab format is 3040 mm x 1440 mm, but other sizes like 3200 mm x 1600, 3050 mm x 1650 mm are produced according to market demand.

As engineered stone, quartz stone enjoys the same advantages, such as less porous, more flexible, and harder than many types of natural stone.

Since 2000s, China has growing number of quartz stone producers, now with largest overall quantity produced.
