Quartz is an engineered material made from about 93.5% - 95% loose quartz and binded with various materials, quartize is a natural stone that is not engineered. Because of this, quartize is a little harder, but must be resealed a couple times per year to ensure it doesn't stain, whereas quartz can come presealed and may last up to 15 years without being resealed. Quartz is also available is more colours as it is not a pure stone .
