Product Description
Dry Rigg stone is a beautiful charcoal dark grey to black siltstone which was formed during part of the Horton formation of Silurian age. It offers good durability and strength properties and is suitable for a number of uses.
Summary Uses
Cladding
Dry Rigg Siltstone is suitable for use as external vertical cladding. The results of flexural strength testing found high strength values when tested perpendicular to the bedding in comparison to other natural stones. The test data suggests that Dry Rigg Siltstone should be suitable for use as external cladding at 40mm thick, this is based on the assumptions given in Arup’s report dated October 2004 which is available for download from this site.
External paving/Internal flooring
Dry Rigg Siltstone is suitable for use as internal flooring and external paving in intensely trafficked areas (refer to BRE IP 10/00 for further details). Use of the Dry Rigg Siltstone as paving would require appropriate design and specification of the material, including selection of an appropriate surface finish in order to control the risk of slip.
