Product Description
Westhampton Beach Calacatta – Westhampton Beach, NY
Westhampton Beach House
This is what happens when you combine Westhampton Beach and homeowners who really want to wow their guests. In a home primarily used for weekend getaways, and beach-bash parties, simple…. was just not an option.
The designers really wanted the island to stand out, as this is the heart of this home, which is fit for architectural digest. We knew that 2″ thick would just simply not be thick enough for the island. We knew we had to go thicker. 3″ Thick is what a home of this caliber commanded. We opted for mitering the edge. The designers knew that Rye Marble was the only choice for mitering italian white marble. By going the miter edge route, we were able to maximize our material choices. We were able to choose from slabs that were not only standard 1 1/4″ Thick, but 3/4″ Thick as well.
When it came time to source material, we knew we wanted something white, but also something wild and exotic. The choice was obvious when we found it. Calacatta Paonazzo. For the island, due to its size, and in order to keep with the symmetry of much of this house, we opted for a planned seam in the center of the island. Through equal dissection and book-matched slabs, we were able create identical halves, mirror image pieces which creates a look usually only found in high-end SoHo lobbies. By book matching the island we really created a wow factor. Skill and expertise, combined with special tools and adhesives allowed us to create a nearly seamless look at both the island center, and main sink center as well.
Next to the island, the area of prominence is the backsplash found behind the stove. For that entire run our craftsmen were able to use three separate pieces, yet really allow the veining to flow as if there was no interruption.
The guest bathroom, although small in size, is not small in terms of design. Zebra marble tiles and slab on the floor, shower walls and vanity top, all in vertical alignment were used to create a look thats as unique as it is modern. What a space to make the lucky guest in this house feel exceptionally special.
The designers wanted the master bathroom to feel open and light, while preserving the exclusive feel this home conjures. To achieve this they decided to go with an all white material, called Naxxos. Naxxos marble is an interesting alternative to Thassos. Also from Greece, Naxxos is a much chunkier, translucent conglomerate of quartz.
The balance of the bathrooms and the staff kitchen in this house are all Glassos ? Nano 1 1/4″ thick. The staff kitchen features a 2″ mitered edge. To learn more about Glassos ?, click here.
